To export your Binance history for taxes, log in on the website and go to Assets > Asset History, then choose Export Transaction Records. Pick the date range and account, generate the file, and download it when Binance emails you. Download it promptly: Binance says the link expires after 7 days, and you can only create a limited number of statements each month.
Before you start: Binance.com or Binance.US?
This guide covers Binance.com. Binance.US is a separate company with its own website, its own export menu and its own US tax forms. If you live in the US, check which one you used: your account emails and the website address tell you.
Use a computer if you can. The app can export trade history too, but the website gives you the full Export Transaction Records window with every account type.
Step by step: export your Binance transaction records
These steps follow Binance's help article "How to Generate Transaction History?" (last updated November 2025 at the time we checked).
- Log in at binance.com and open Assets, then Asset History.
- Hover over the export icon and click Export Transaction Records.
- Choose the time range. Preset options cover the past 6 months. For anything older, click Customize and set your own start and end dates.
- Select the account (or all accounts), any sub-account, and the coin (choose all coins for a tax report).
- Click Generate. The Status column shows how long is left.
- Wait for the SMS or email that says your statement is ready. Binance suggests checking back in one to two hours if it does not arrive.
- Go back to the Export Transaction Records window and click Download.
- Repeat for each period you need. Binance generates one report at a time, so a long history means several exports.
In the app: go to Assets, tap the History icon, choose My Trades, then Order History and the download icon at the top right. The All Time tab lets you set a custom range and generate a file; you are notified when it is ready under Export History.
Limits to know
| Item | What Binance's help page says |
|---|---|
| Ranges | Preset ranges cover the past 6 months; use Customize for older periods |
| Reports | One report at a time; repeat for other periods |
| Monthly quota | A limited number of statements per user per month (shown in the export window) |
| Download link | Expires after 7 days |
| When it is ready | Notified by SMS and/or email |
Plan the exports. If you have traded since 2019, split the history into yearly files and generate them on one day, then download them all within the week.
Which accounts and files your tax report needs
A Binance account is several accounts in one. A tax report needs all of them, not just your spot trades:
| You used | Make sure the export includes |
|---|---|
| Spot trading and Convert | Spot account transaction records |
| Deposits and withdrawals | Deposit and withdrawal records, to match transfers to your other wallets |
| Simple Earn, staking, launchpools | Earn/Funding account records: rewards are income when received |
| Futures or margin | The futures and margin accounts: their gains and funding fees |
| P2P trades | P2P order history: export it separately if it is not in your transaction records |
When in doubt, export all accounts for the full period. It is easier for software to ignore a row than to find a missing one.
Use the API instead of CSV?
Most crypto tax software can connect to Binance with an API key and pull the history automatically. Binance's tax FAQ describes a dedicated Tax Report API key that is read-only and limited to one per user. Two rules:
- Create a read-only key. Never enable trading or withdrawals for a tax tool.
- Pick one method per account. If you connect the API and upload a CSV for the same period, every trade appears twice.
API imports can still miss old or unusual transaction types, so compare the totals with your CSV for at least one month.
Check the file before you upload it
- Dates: the file covers every year since your first deposit, not just 2026. Your cost basis comes from older buys.
- Time zone: Binance's help page for spot statements says the history is shown in UTC+0. A trade at 8pm on December 31 in New York is already January 1 in UTC. Most tax tools let you set the time zone of an import.
- Balances: after importing, your software's balance for each coin should match what Binance shows. A gap usually means a missing account or period.
- Transfers in: coins you sent to Binance from another wallet need their original purchase record from that wallet, or they will show no cost basis.
- Unedited file: if you open the CSV in Excel and save it, dates and long numbers can be reformatted. Keep the original download for the upload.
What Binance does not do for you
Binance gives you raw records. It does not know what you paid for coins you deposited, it does not match transfers to your other wallets, and its reports are not designed around the tax rules of every country. Binance's own tax FAQ notes that its gains reports may not include the specific tax rules of your country of residence.
For US taxpayers, every swap on Binance is a taxable sale (IRS FAQ Q64), including swaps into stablecoins. Rewards from Earn products are generally ordinary income when you receive them. The US crypto tax guide explains how each one is taxed.
Turn the export into a tax report
With one exchange and a few trades, you can calculate gains in a spreadsheet or give the file to your accountant. Once you add a second exchange, a self-custody wallet like MetaMask or Earn rewards, matching everything by hand gets slow and error-prone.
FAQ
How far back can I export Binance history?
The export window offers preset ranges for the past six months and a Customize option for older dates. Generate one file per period, for example one per year, until you reach your first deposit.
Why is my Binance export link not working?
Binance download links expire after seven days. Generate the statement again; it counts toward your monthly quota, so download each file as soon as you get the email.
Do I need my Binance history if I only bought and held?
If you never sold, swapped or earned anything, you have no taxable event on Binance yet. Keep an export anyway: the purchase records are your cost basis when you sell later.
